Mental Health Awareness Month
Health & Wellness / By Lance De Peralta / May 13, 2022
Mental Health Awareness Month comes on the heels of Stress Awareness Month which I posted about here.
"Mental health is wealth, especially during Mental Health Awareness Month, which is celebrated in May. The stigma around mental health and treatment has long existed, even though this has started to change. Still, people hesitate to seek help or even talk about it with their loved ones for fear of being judged and facing unnecessary backlash. Simple logic dictates that if we are hurt anywhere, we must seek treatment to get better. This applies to both our mental- and physical well-being."

Neo: "I thought it wasn't real."
Morpheus: "Your mind makes it real."
Neo: "If you're killed in the Matrix, you die here?"
Morpheus: "The body cannot live without the mind."
I'm a BIG fan of "The Matrix". This movie blew my mind (hehe) when I saw it in the theater. For those familiar, the above exchange between Neo and Morpheus occurs after the "Jump Program" sequence. It introduces a key theme in the movie: the value and power of the human mind. The mind is so important, in fact, that much of the movie occurs within the mind (ala The Matrix).
This month - and throughout the year - let's all acknowledge the value and power of the human mind by prioritizing our mental health. It's not enough to focus just on our physical health. Think about it: people who prioritize their physical health do so because they are motivated to lose weight, improve fitness, look good, etc. These motivations occur in the mind.
Strong mind, strong body.
